Although fixing the few issues I've had, has not always been easy, each time I had no trouble contacting support either through the web chat or phone. This in my limited experience is 'Very' unusual and for that reason alone I would recommend Hostpapa to anyone. The price range is also quite impressive so together I am happy with the service.
If I were to complain about anything, it would be the confusion I find with the dashboard, however this could be because I have very limited technical knowledge. But then surely there are lots of us out there, and maybe it could be simplified or just explained for novices a bit better.

Will not refund on cancellation.
I signed up with Hostpapa to find that their offer of free domain transfer only applies to a single domain, If you want to transfer a second one, it costs a small fortune. So I requested cancellation, knowing they advertise free cancellation within 30 days. They ignored my request for cancellation until after 30 days, then cancelled and refuse to refund my money, because it wasn't cancelled within the 30 days! The hosting never started, ie they never hosted my website, not even for a minute and yet will not refund.

Good set of tools but horribly fluctuating load times.
Initially I was pleased with the set of tools available on Hostpapa and their Support also seemed responsive. Was able to build a website fairly quickly and at good quality however the rest of the story is less positive.
The load times of the site fluctuate at incredible rates. Sometimes the site loads under 1 second (5-10% of times), then goes up to 3 seconds (40% of times), it loads above 3 seconds (45% of times) and reaches 5-10-15 second load times easily. Finally about 4-5% of times the site times out. The site is quite small in size – about 4 pages , and 1.5 mb in size.
Problem isn’t solved yet, not even after providing them proof and monitoring the site for weeks.
This means visitors have a terrible experience therefore I must consider changing host!
Too bad! Initially I liked their tooling and their support.

Hostpapa provide an excellent chat support who have helped me with a range of problems - they are both knowledgeable and patient.
Great renewal deal and I am delighted to be signing up for another three years.
Very reliable, my website is always up and running every time I check which is vital for a small business like mine as it is my main form of promotion.
Site builder is cheap and easy to use with the best range of templates I have found which allows me to design and build the site exactly as I want it and is also easy to alter when required.
Altogether a web host deserving of the five stars I give them! I would recommend them to anyone

You know what they say, you get what you pay for. Have been hosting web and email on a shared service with hostpapa for over 6 years. Just renewed in May for another 3 years and service has been fraught with problems. Currently, DNS not resolving to one of my addon domains, totally out for three days now, with responses from customer service trying to pass the buck to my registrar (NOTE: it's savvy to never register your domain with your hosting company -- word to the wise!) when clearly it's the hostpapa nameserver that is refusing a connection. DNS checker further reports that my domain is inaccessible across most of the planet; no changes have recently been made to DNS so what's up with that? Having a domain out of service for this long means no web, no email. Painful! On top of all this, email smtp is now taking 15+ seconds to send individual messages which is indicative of tarpitting but hostpapa tech support just refuses to explicitly acknowledged when asked. Some of the worst customer/technical support experiences in my life. Time to find a new web and email host!

Very slow and unreliable - very detrimental to your website (learn from my mistake and stay away)
Simple questions such as why my website loads slow took 27 minutes to string two replies from them. I had the same enquiry drag over 2 weeks because they kept saying it was done, but obviously wasn't and had to chase multiple times. THat same request on one day i had to deal with 3 different people, because after 5 -10 minutes the chat will close itself and end your conversation if left unattended. Many of the times they will ignore your question and say 'they are looking' but in fact they are just going to leave it dormant so chat closes and when you open the chat window again you get a new support rep. No accountability whatsoever.

A snapshot of their support line:

1) wait about 3 minutes to say hello

2) wait another 3-5 minutes to say they will work on it and acknowledge your enquiry

3) wait another 3-5 minutes to ask for your URL - dont get why they didnt ask in step 2

4) wait another 3-5 minutes to say they are looking in to it for you

I've been with Hostpapa for 8 years now. Never had an issue until this year. First I get an email in April telling me that I'm spamming and my account will be suspended if stopped immediately, then a suspension 3 days ago. In between I talk to their customer support and explain that there is no spamming going on. I have scripts on my page that send me alerts as someone navigates my website. They seem happy and life goes on....until Monday. Now, with a suspended website - I can't get anyone in authority to talk to me. I've sent email - chatted online with tech support - and left countless voicemails all to no effect. Something is seriously wrong with this company. I'm desperately trying to get access to my account so I can download all the material - then it's goodbye PaPa! Because of my situation I've done a bit of googling to see if anyone else is having problems with them. Oh boy...I see that I'm just a tiny voice in a sea of angry HostPapa clients. Do yourself a favour if you're thinking about signing up with these people - DON'T. Keep researching - There's lots more deserving hosts out there.

I am unhappy Hostpapa client. When the service is running, no complains in general. Sometime short glitches, but I am fine with it. But if there are some technical issue- you are in big troubles. First answer in many cases - it is a problem with your computer/internet provider etc. You have to be knowledgeable to proof the your ISP is not blocking certain ports, that your email program is running fine and your ISP not blocking your port :-)
There is no way to speak to someone knowledgeable more than customer service, who is telling you that your ticket in process.
Would I recommend it? if you need a reliable service - think twice. Low cost service - just keep in mind, that you are getting what you are paying for.
